Easton MN Storm 2026 Hail Damage Estimate

Overnight storms on Tuesday, September 1 into Wednesday morning, September 2, 2026 produced golf-ball-sized hail in Faribault County and damaging winds across southern and southeast Minnesota. A trained spotter reported 1.75-inch hail two miles west of Delavan. National Weather Service warnings called out golf-ball hail for Easton, Minnesota Lake, and Wells.

As the line moved east, 60–70 mph winds knocked down trees and power lines through Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona counties. Rochester utilities reported thousands of customers without power Wednesday morning. Towns in or near the path include Easton, Delavan, Wells, Minnesota Lake, Waseca, Rochester, Stewartville, Eyota, Elgin, Marion, Chatfield, Spring Valley, Grand Meadow, Plainview, and Austin.

Golf-ball hail can fracture the shingle mat, strip granules, and dent metal even when the roof still looks intact from the yard. Wind can lift edges, open flashing, and drive rain under the surface. Each Ronningen estimate includes materials, labor, and out-of-scope items such as wet decking, failed flashing, and damaged vents or gutters.

Most Minnesota homeowners policies cover sudden hail and wind, minus the deductible. Get the roof documented before the next rain and before the adjuster visit. Do not climb a wet or damaged roof.

Ronningen Roofing is a locally owned Rochester contractor with 27 years in southeast Minnesota and more than 5,000 roofs completed. We inspect asphalt and metal roofs on homes and commercial buildings and typically finish a replacement in one day.

After this storm, look for circular bruises on shingles, granules in gutters, cracked or missing tabs, dents on flashing, vents, gutters, and A/C coils, and loose or cracked skylights. If you are in Easton, Delavan, Wells, Minnesota Lake, or anywhere along the southeast Minnesota track, request the inspection this week.
